I> Create a USB Flash Drive 1. Download the latest recovery image (ISO) provided by Harmonic Inc. 2. Launch the Rufus tool provided with the image (Run as administrator). 3. Insert an empty USB flash drive. All the existing data will be deleted from the flash drive. 4. Select that USB drive as "Device" in Rufus. 5. Locate and select the ISO image file using the SELECT option under Boot selection. 6. Set the Partition scheme as MBR and File system as NTFS. 7. Set an appropriate Volume label for the USB drive and keep all other settings as default. 8. Click START to proceed with the creation of the bootable USB drive. 9. Click OK on the warning message which indicates that all data on the selected USB drive will be destroyed. After the confirmation, it takes about 20-25 minutes to complete the process depending on the operating system and USB brand. 9. After the process is completed, close Rufus and unplug the drive. 10. Use this USB drive to deploy the image for upgrades or recovery, when needed. II> Use the USB Flash Drive to Upgrade the Operating System Follow these steps to upgrade your R620/R230/Intel/HPE server’s operating system. 1. Insert the USB flash drive. 2. Power up the system 3. Click F11/F6 to view the BIOS Boot Manager menu. In the Boot Manager choose the USB flash drive. 4. Pay attention to the message: The hard disk will be reformatted. Are you sure you want to continue? CAUTION: Upgrading the operating system with the recovery media will erase all data on your local machine. 5. Click Yes, to continue. 6. A second message displays: All the data on the hard disk will be deleted. Please backup you data before continuing. Are you sure you want to continue? 7. Click Yes, to continue after you have made a backup of the current NMX catalog onto an external storage device. The upgrade process takes about 15 minutes. 8. After the system automatically reboots, remove the USB flash from the slot.
